Newspost by Louie for 01-10-05:

Hi there!

Well, hello to everybody that's visiting this web site. Of course, at the moment I haven't gotten the publicity machine rolling yet, so the only person who may be seeing this is Preston. Regardless, hopefully someone will come across this little piece of internet real-estate soon, and maybe get at least a glimmer of humor. Tragically, I've been working on Oasis since, and you'll laugh at this, April. Last April. Jesus. Oh well. At least now, after almost a year of putting things off and a broken server, the first real Oasis strip is now officially on the web.

So I guess since this is the first one (first comic, first newspost, however you want to classify it) I might as well get into a bit of history in terms of this comic strip. Well, even though this strip was drawn way way back in April of '04, the actual idea of Oasis came long before that. If I can think back far enough, I think Man In A Box ended around July (actually, I just went and looked, and it was July the 13th), and even at that time the idea for Oasis was churning around in my head. That's way it's really weird for me to write these strips now, because back then I still had my whole melodramatic teenager frame of mind, so my idea for the whole strip was a really overly dramatic sort of Beverly Hills 90210 sort of affair. So I'm still keeping that whole melodramatic storyline because that's what I started with and that's what I'm going to finish it with, but I'm trying to keep it interesting and try to avoid falling into that sort of pit of cliché that so many strips fall into.

So hopefully this strip will turn out more like a John Hughes film than a LiveJournal. However, a bit of good news for anyone who might not like the direction this strip is taking, the strip is finite. Meaning, the story has a beginning and an end. No "The College Years" subtitle in the future here.

So, with that I hope you enjoy my comic strip. Also, while I'm rambling, just so you know, I've gotten about twelve more strips done since this one, and the artwork takes a (quantum) leap in terms of art quality, and even though I'm still not happy with how the strips look, they do look much better. And with that, I'm shutting up now. Enjoy.
