Who
the hell invented the pop-up ad. I guess it goes along with the
people that invented the internet. Why is it a cool thing must always
have some shit tagged to it that is just horrible and almost makes
you hate the cool thing?
Ok, ok. I see the practical value in using them-
trick unsuspecting customer to click, give them notions of big
money, cash, and prizes, and &%$# them over, right? I personally
thing the advertising business has gone too fat as it is with
the way they did the World Series and all, but I am not a million
dollar making man, so my methods of screwing over cool things
just aren’t as good.
I don’t mind if you make a link to something
and mentioning or even suggesting people go take a look, but blatant
in your face, “HEY!! CLICK ME!! CLICK ME!!” No, I
don’t like that.
And then they try to make it seem like your playing
a game. The newest pop-up ads are the ones that have like targets
and say something like, “shoot the duck and win!”
which not only promotes violence, but tricks you into thinking
your playing some kind of game; to a gamer- this is not cool.
Most of the time I just play with the cross-hairs or target and
imagine shooting the thing, but lately they’re coming out
with the kind that automatically bring up a new browser for just
moving your mouse over the ad. Which really licks b*lls because
if you try and close it, your bound to run over the picture. Either
creative and intelligent marketing, or should be kicked in the
face stupid-ness; you decide.
Until next time, Toodles.
